Traditional Chinese Medicine

TCM is a practiced of natural medicine that has a history of over 4000 years. Then practice of TCM includes acupuncture, acupressure, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, tui na, moxibustion, qi gong and tai qi exercises.

The basic philosophy of TCM is balance. We believe that in order for an individual to be healthy and well there should be a balance of qi or the energy or life force.

Qi is a unquantifiable substance that exists in all living things. Qi should be flowing abundantly and without hindrance. However due to effects of external as well as internal stress qi gets disrupted.

When qi is obstructed or weaken it will manifest in different ways. Depending on where the qi is affected symptoms can range from physiological to emotional issues.

Rather than treating just the symptoms TCM focus on the root cause of the imbalance. When we focus on the source of the issue, symptoms related to it will naturally subside.

This is why often times more sever and chronic issues takes longer to treat than a milder, more acute case. And based on an individual's case acupuncture and/or other modalities are incorporated in the treatment.

Each of TCM's treatment modalities focus on soothing, moving and strengthening the qi of the body. Acupuncture and acupressure are methods of stimulating qi points on the meridians of the body to induce qi activity. Chinese herbal medicine, depending on the formulation, is able to address all that is related to organ imbalance. Cupping, moxibustion and tui na helps in circulation and strengthening of qi also.
